BOTOX
BOTOX® is a purified form of botulinum toxin type A, derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. While it may sound intimidating, in the right hands, this neurotoxin is a powerful tool for cosmetic and therapeutic treatment.
Also known as Botox Cosmetic, it is an FDA-approved injectable that relaxes specific facial muscles to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. As we express ourselves smiling, squinting, frowning our facial muscles contract repeatedly, causing the skin to crease. Over time, these dynamic lines can become more deeply etched into the skin, even at rest.
How It Works
BOTOX® works by disrupting the signals between nerves and muscles, so the muscles are temporarily unable to contract. This reduces excessive movement, softens existing lines, and helps prevent new wrinkles from forming.
Although Botox is most effective for expression lines, it can also help improve the appearance of deeper static wrinkles over time with consistent treatments. Think of it like trying to smooth out pressed pleats in fabric the lines may soften significantly, but some faint folds can remain.
Cosmetic Applications
Medical Applications
Is BOTOX® painful?
Most patients describe the injections as quick and very tolerable. A tiny needle is used, and any discomfort is brief. Numbing cream is typically not required, but it can be provided upon request.
When will I see results?
You may start to notice results within 3 to 5 days, with full smoothing effects typically visible by day 7 to 10.
How long do the results last?
BOTOX® results typically last 3 to 4 months. With consistent treatments, some patients find they can go longer between visits.
Will I look frozen or expressionless?
Not at U Aesthetics. Our approach is conservative and customized to you. The goal is softening lines — not erasing personality. You’ll still look like yourself, just more refreshed.
Can I combine BOTOX® with other treatments?
Absolutely. BOTOX® pairs beautifully with dermal fillers, microneedling, laser treatments, and medical-grade skincare. Your provider will guide you on the ideal combination for your goals.
